Speaking of the original photograph, I have always wondered what that is in his hands that he is wiping with the cloth. In your painting it looks more like a lens than it does in the photograph -- at least in the photographs I have seen -- yet it looks more like a modern lens than a 19th century lens.
Anyway, I think this may be the best portrait of Dodgson I have ever seen, and I am a bit of a student of the man. (I even wrote a poem dedicated to Dodgson, if you care to read it! [link] )
And by the way, your poem is so beautiful and very inspirational.
